Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour

Since I re-vamped my blog back in January, there have been very few makeup posts that haven't mentioned a liquid lipstick. I guess it is fair to say that I am obsessed with testing out and talking about new liquid lipsticks. I first heard about the new Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour a few weeks ago when I started my internship (I am officially on my way to my dream career!) and I knew that as soon as they launched I wanted to test them out for the blog!

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour

First of all, Rita Ora looks amazing in the press images for these liquid lipsticks and I do like how Rimmel also kept a matte theme with the packaging for this product as well.

I picked up the shades Pink Bliss and Plum This Show - although, my want for a blue lipstick is even further increased with Blue Iris! They are £5.99 in Boots and are currently part of a 3-for-2 so you have been warned!

My favourite thing about these products are their staying power. I've got a fair few liquid lipsticks in my makeup collection so my expectations for longevity are pretty high. I tested their longevity by wearing lip-liner underneath and without lip-liner underneath and I have to say, without lip-liner, it stayed pretty well! Plum This Show even survived meals, and with only the middle starting to fade but not terribly at all. Pink Bliss survived pretty well too but I always find that darker and bolder lip colours tend to last longer on the lips than paler shades.

I love the two shades and I think the shade range for a drugstore brand is pretty good as they have a few pink shades, brown shades, plum shades and then to finish it off with a bang - a black, a blue and a grey!

The texture when the formula has dried is quite similar to the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets so that might be something to think about before you buy any of these shades. I'm so used to wearing matte formulas that the texture doesn't bother me and to be honest, it helps me know that it is going to stay put!

Overall I think that these new liquid lipsticks are very good and in the drugstore market where almost every brand has their own version, Rimmel is definitely up there with the big boys. Jen from Beauddiction has done some really good swatches of the full range so click here to check them out!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and let me know your thoughts in the comments if you have tried out! What are your favourite drugstore/high-end liquid lipsticks?

Ellyn xx
